“Sensory Overload II” is a series of works that explores the creation and manipulation of synthetic matter through form, light and structure. It is the fusion of the two creative directions, film and figurative painting and within this work, I have explored the abstracted form within a digital realm. This matter is manipulated, rearranged and moulded into works that depict “the natural” in a synthetic environment. The viewer can almost see through the veils to discover familiar references of a human form.
I think this abstracted figurative work echoes our internal emotional landscapes that in turn echo the landscape that creative environments operate within today. That is a 3D digital environment or void held within cyberspace and limited only by the creators imagination.
Today, many of our sensory reactions are as a result of interaction with technology, new media and the hype that surrounds them. Sensory Overload II is a suspended moment in time of a discarded shroud of technology. Each cross section shows remnants of hype from an internal perspective. This is my view of a new synthetic landscape and nearing genetic future.
